Unlike a piece of farm machinery that can be traded in and upgraded, silos are generally a permanent installation so need to be selected carefully. Given the capital outlay required for grain storage, silo selection is critical. Unfortunately, there are some silo manufacturers selling silos claiming to meet the Australian Standard for sealing that have failed independent testing.
